Almost there

Tomorrow afternoon Elaine, Tilley and myself will be meeting for what will be our final meeting before the Calendar goes for printing. The pictures have been taken, we decided who we need to thank on our Calendar, people who've given their time generously, Sheelagh who so magnificently made every one of us look so beautiful for our pictures, Elaine for her tireless work on our publicity and spreading the word. There are so many people that we're grateful to, Mike for his costume and prop contributions, Matt for his splendid lighting and helping to set up the theatre for us and Ken for his tea/coffee making. Most importantly we could not have done this without our wonderful Tilley, photographer extrordinaire, we cannot thank her enough for her tireless work in taking the pictures, her vision and patience and for all the work she's done since to ensure that we have the most stunning Calendar.

Tomorrow we'll check the proofs, make sure everything is in place and then we have to let our baby go to the printers. I know that we're all super excited to see the final product in its printed form. And so the next part of our adventure begins, we launch the Calendar on September 1st and our hopes for selling as many copies as we can to enable us to donate as much as we can to such a worthy cause. Now it's up to you, please support us and spread the word.
You can follow us on Twitter
'Like' us on Facebook and of course follow this blog for updates about the calendar and how to buy your own copy.

P.S: Here we are taking a final look at the calendar page proofs on Tilley's laptop. We're so pleased with the finished result.

Lights, camera, action

Ok well for the moment let's just say lights. Costumes, props taken down to the Brewhouse this morning, Tilley delighted at the stash I brought from Mike's room. Ken and Matt valiantly moved the extremely heavy piano into position on the stage for tomorrow. Tilley has an eye for exactly the lighting she wants and of course lovely Matt, being the technician knows exactly how to achieve that for her. Now I'm thinking, from the pose that maybe Matt would also like to be on the Calendar.

The clock is ticking....

And heart rates are rising, the time for our shoot is now very close and I know that 22 women will currently be saying "What were we thinking?". Tomorrow Tilley and myself will be down at the Brewhouse starting to set things up. I have a spare room full of costumes, props and things that I snagged from Mike's Tardis which I'm not even sure what they are but I'm sure will come in useful, of course my Sherpar for the day will be hubby Ken, without him I surely would not be able to get this car load to the Brewhouse.  Tilley I know will be armed with a car full of lights and cameras ably assisted by her lovely hubby Matt, he's the muscle for the day, ok well maybe not Mr Atlas but when it comes to lights and technical stuff he's a wizard so we're very grateful to have him on our team. Our plan tomorrow is to at least get our scenarios set out as much as we can so that come 9am on Sunday ( I know, I know, 9am on a Sunday!!! thanks Tilley) we can get started, crack open the Bucks Fizz and have some fun. I'll be back after the event to tell all.

tick, tock, tick, tock

The day of our photo shoot is looming ever nearer so now is the time to finalise our plans. Elaine, Tilley and myself are meeting on Friday to put the finishing touches to our plans and to firm up all the details. Elaine and Tilley have been busy with promoting and  deciding about printing our calendars, colour, black and white? Tilley has been sketching out poses for us and of course I'm not about to reveal those yet.  I've been busy gathering costumes and props together, as you will have seen from my recent trip to Mike's Tardis. Tilley's lovely husband Matt and the Brewhouse Technician has been roped in to help us set up on the day, I don't think he actually volunteered, but on the other hand I don't think he had much choice in the matter, trust me, Tilley is a force to be reckoned with. As for my other half, Ken, well he's on standby for Friday night to put the kettle on and slice the cake, we all know you can't have a proper meeting without tea and cake - right? I hope the ladies are starting to get excited now I know the nerves might be kicking in a little, we were all so gungho a few months ago but now it's time for us to stand up and be counted. I think and hope that we're all still inspired to be part of this wonderful venture, a once in a lifetime opportunity for us all to do something daring and truly worthwhile.

The Tardis

You'll be pleased to hear that I made it safely out of Mike's Tardis. Spent an hour or so in sheer pleasure with Mike, rooting through hundreds of items for our photo shoot. As you can see from the pictures I wasn't lying when I said if you ever need anything and I do mean anything theatrical, ASK MIKE!!!

Ask Mike

In our theatre company this is something you'll hear said a lot. Does anyone have Victorian spectacles? Ask Mike, does anyone have a 1970s hat? Ask Mike, you get the picture? Mike Mear is the Mike in question, one of our members who has been a member since Victoria was on the throne ( ok I'm running for cover now incase he reads this). As you all know our calendar is a theatrical theme so we're in need of costumes/hats/ props of varying themes so the obvious thing to do was to..... you've got it... Ask Mike. So Tuesday next week I'm meeting Mike to raid his magical room of "stuff". To be honest it's not a huge room but it is a bit like the Tardis, I know I'll be able to find everything I need. I'll report back to let you know what goodies I found, if I'm not back you'll know it's because I'm lost in Mike's room forever.
